The Process
Initial interview - here we'll explain the process in more depth, give you an overview of
the different kinds of web-based marketing available, and ask questions to learn more about your
business, your customers, and what you want the website to do for you. We'll also ask you to
provide us with the key phrases you feel are relevant to your business.
Analysis - if you already have a web site, we'll review it thoroughly to evaluate it
for speed, organization, content, keyword relevancy, and a number of design/structural
considerations. We'll also briefly review your current positioning with the top search
engines and your current web site statistics, if available. For new web sites, we'll talk
with you about hosting options, domain name selection and registration,
design features and what kind of "look" you want for your web site.
Planning - At this point we'll develop a plan of action and discuss it with you,
including timelines and associated costs. Once the agreement is signed, we'll begin work
immediately and will keep you "in the loop" via email, phone and frequent status updates.
Implementation - Here, we'll begin to put the agreed upon plan into action.
For existing web sites, we'll begin to optimize the site (and for new web sites, we'll design
it to be search engine friendly from the start!), submit it to search engines and directories,
monitor the results and "tweak" the pages and keywords as necessary. If an in-depth linking
campaign has been agreed upon, we'll begin to identify and contact those sites. We can also
set up a statistics/monitoring package for you so that you can follow the progress; this also
allows us to monitor site statistics and refine the approach as needed. For example, we may
identify keywords that are performing better than others, or we may even discover a target audience
that you didn't know you had!

About content and keywords
Content refers to the text on your web site. Content relevancy refers to how well the text
is written, how well it's organized and how well it supports the message of your site.
Your I.T. Works can provide professional level writing and copy editing to enhance, clarify
and "zoom in" on your message.
Keyword analysis and positioning involves much more than simply getting a list of keywords
from you and plugging them in to your web pages. In fact, it's very often true that clients
provide only "some" of the keywords that people are actually using to find the services or
products that they offer. For example, if you already have a web site and use statistics
software to track referring sites and keywords, it's easy to assume that the keywords it
lists for your site are "the" keywords that you should use. In fact, tracking software
only tells you which keywords or phrases were used to find you -- not necessarily which
keywords were used to find your competitors instead. Your I.T. Works uses WordTracker, a
database of over 300 million words that people have actually used in their internet searches,
to identify the very best keywords and phrases for your business.
Other important considerations are where your keywords are positioned on the pages, how
frequently they're used (but not overused) on the site, whether they're used as links to
navigate through the site, and how much competition you have for the same keywords.
The importance of content relevancy and careful keyword development can't be over-emphasized.
In short - they're the foundation for everything else!
